About Formalise

Formalise is a new platform designed to help those engaging workers in the gig economy as contractors.

There are compelling reasons to record your agreement with each contractor in a written contract but so often this does not occur, perhaps as a result of the urgency with which the contractor needs to be onboarded or as a result of a desire to save costs.

Yet, the failure to get a contract signed can result in significantly more management time being taken up and more cost being incurred when something goes wrong under that contract. The contractor may not perform and as such you might want to terminate the contractual arrangement. The ATO may be questioning whether a genuine contractor relationship exists. The contractor may have been injured and you need to prove that the contractor was not an employee.

Formalise will offer a variety of industry specific contracts to allow the easy onboarding of contractors in those sectors, the creation and signing of fit for purpose contracts and the ongoing management of those contracts.

We will be starting in the building sector when we launch but will expand into other sectors as demand dictates.

On this site we will be publishing information relating to the engagement of contractors including summaries of recent court judgements relating to disputes between contractors and those who retain them.

The initial iteration of the platform is under construction and will be available for beta testing very soon.

Formalise does not provide legal advice but will make available contracts that have been drafted and approved by experienced lawyers.

Formalise will also be able to link you to lawyers, accountants, insurance brokers. Completion of the contracts may raise particular legal accounting and insurance issues in your business and Formalise will be able to connect you with its panel of preferred alliance partners able to assist with any specialised requirements you have.
